Hi Guys,
Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread 'ticking along'. . .
It would be really fantastic if more people could take the time to drop just a couple of lines of info into the forum about the WTP site.
All it takes is a few words, like Kathy( waders at Kirks Point) and Super User( Crakes in Pond 4 second turn past T intersection), if we could get more and more people just dropping those sightings it wouldn't be long before we all had a great Location Map of one of the best birding sites in the world!!! BTW, Super User, those three Hoary-headed Grebes are probably to ones that have recently vacated Lake Wendouree in the middle of Ballarat?
Come on guys, please join in. . .

Sadly, it's been a while since I've found a free day for a visit; hopefully soon - and hopefully there will be more birds than last time I visited (with the BirdLife Melbourne Photography Group way back in August). I think that a "Location Map" would almost certainly be a very ephemeral thing - constantly changing as birds come and go. It's always worth checking other reporting sites to see what's currently happening; and we have the means available to do just that available within this site, a constantly-updated feed from BirdLine Victoria. Have a look at Resources - Birdline Feeds - VIC . There's also feed for all the other regions in Australia.

Hope this helps, Rob

Thanks Rob,
There seems to be a lot of info on this forum/site that is hidden in all the different 'hidey holes', seems like I might have to do a bit of snooping?
Rob, I understand that the WTP is a dynamic location with all things coming and going and constantly evolving, but people who are regulars there, I'm sure, would know roughly where to start looking for what particular type of bird at what time of the year? You can see from the above results that people know the locations where waders hang out, also that driving up and down 'these' particular roads will give you regular sightings of the "Blue-bellied Sniffler" and so on. Surely it can't be that hard for a few more people to join in and say that they regularly see Swamp Harriers at Potts Point, Budgies like drinking at Pond 6, and so on. If we can do this and work together we can surely get a generalized map of what hangs out where and when? I'm hoping that, as time ticks by, people will drop by this thread and add info like you have just provided with the Birdline contacts. . .hopefully???
