Raw Therapee v. 5.0 was released three weeks ago. This is very capable RAW conversion and adjustment software that can be used instead of mainstream platforms like LR, ACR, etc and it is FREE. It was developed by a team of enthusiasts who are right out there at the cutting edge and consequently includes many special features not found on mainstream platforms. A couple of features that caught my eye are:

1. A choice of 10 different demosaicing algorithms to get the most details and least artifacts out of RAW conversions. As we have said on many occasions, not all RAW converters are equal and it is nice to have a choice of algorithm and not be stuck with the one in LR/ACR, Capture One, DxO Optics Pro etc.

2. Enhance details options include deconvolution. Deconvolution is not usually available on mainstream platforms except as a third party plug-in such as piccure+

3. One click interface to GIMP for finishing 16-bit TIFFs.

There is lots more that you can read about here http://rawtherapee.com/blog/features

I forgot to mention that Raw Therapee is not recommended for beginners. However, if you have experience with one of the mainstream RAW conversion and adjustment platforms and are looking for something different and better, then Raw Therapee might be for you.
