Hi everyone! I was hoping someone out there could help me identify this little bird. Seen yesterday at Western Treatment Plant, Werribee. Sorry for the poor quality images. Thank you.

Hi Veronica
White-fronted Chat.
Have been recorded at that site.
How often?. Maybe one of the locals can help?.
Cheers.

Umm... now that you say it, it looks very much like a female white-fronted chat. I think I was stuck in the plover mindset for some reason. There were definitely other white-fronted chats in the same area. Thank you

Hi there,
I was just about to post the exact same question as Veronica after visiting Werribee yesterday ! I was led down the same path to plovers even with my marvelous The Australian Bird Guide (Menkhorst et al). Agree that it is a female White-fronted Chat.
However, this bird seen with the White-fronted Chats and seemingly having confrontations with the males, is not looking like the female at all.
Can anyone help with identifying this one - I was thinking plover but not getting an answer from Morcombe or Menkhorst.
Thanks in anticipation
Richard

Hi Richard
My money says. An immature male White-fronted Chat in transition to maturity.
Though. I'm not an expert.
