Hello, grateful views on whether this bird is female or juvenile White Winged Triller. I would put my money on female. There was also a male in the area. Location is ACT, in late November. Note that other than some basic Raw post processing I have left this pretty much untouched, as it isnt an image I intend to keep.

Hi Simon
Sorry for the tardy response.
This one is a humdinger!. I don't think there is an image of a female White-winged Triller in the gallery. Maybe, because the identification is so difficult?
When I first studied the picture, I thought, as you did, female. But after looking at a few field guides, I am leaning towards a juvenile transitioning into an immature male. Due to the dark wings with the white tips, as opposed to the browner wings with the buff tips (but, this could be a trick of light).
I am by no means certain, as I am just going by the guides.
Hope that there is more input on the topic.
