Suspect these may be Red-capped Robins though no evidence of a red cap. Possibly a juvenile and it's Mum - an adult female. Approx. the correct size and shape - they displayed Robin type behaviour ie., perching in the same vicinity approx. 2-6 metres above ground, watching the ground intently and darting down to the grass to catch insects. Photographed at Narooma (NSW South Coast) on 11 Dec 17.
Checked Simpson & Day plus Michael Morecombe but still unsure. Appreciate a positive ID.

Thanks in advance

Hello Warren. To me they look more like Jacky Winter juvenile and immature. The behaviour fits and the white under tail looks right. Did you happen to see any adult Jacky Winters? Cheers, Ian.

Thanks Ian...... you may well be correct as we saw (only once) what we thought was a JW in the same area a little time before this pair arrived. Pretty sure it was a JW as it appeared to (half heartedly) display the characteristic tail wag after it landed We saw it only fleetingly. This pair stayed around for some time, however we never noticed any tail wagging behaviour from them so we somewhat discounted JW. As you know, I'm a deafo so I'm unable to describe any calls.
