Hi Guys,
I'm having some problems with my Canon 5dm3 I think it needs to go fo some repair work. Can anyone recommend a good repair shop that you trust? Cheers Jack.

In the past, I've sent gear direct to Canon. I trust them most and have found their repair prices reasonable. What are the symptoms? Have you tried to diagnose? It may be that others have seen the problem before and you can then get a better idea of what you might be up for before going to the hassle of sending the camera off and paying the initial investigation fee.

Hi Guys,
I use Nikon gear and used to send my cameras, etc. to the camera repair specialists in Easey st, Collingwood, Melbourne.
Like I said, I used to send my gear to them, now I wouldn't let them play with a dented beer can, BTW they are also Canon specialists.
After three trips to Collingwood, I gave up in frustration and sent my gear directly to Nikon in Sydney, absolutely fantastic service and you couldn't ask anything more from them.
As Glenn suggests, I would send my gear straight to Canon.
I assume that you've done a full two button reset and removed the battery, etc., all the little quick fixes??
HTH,
Bruce

Thanks guys for the advice.. the symptoms. 1. camera would take a shot but the picture would be half exposed top good and the bottom black. then it might work normal for some time. 2. then I started to get error message 20 (remove battery etc) 3. now I turn on camera go to take a shot there is a very slow sounding clunk.. then the power fails..no power to anything. I remove the battery and replace and there is a clunk just like you have had the shutter open fore a long time. I think its the mirror sticking as I took off the lens when it was in this power out mode and I could see the curtain down and could see the mirror up. I have been recommended to a repair place in Queensland. I wouldn't use Canon repair ever again, I sent a camera to them twice cost $700 and camera came back with the same problem still. No Bruce I don't know about the "full two button reset" but yes have removed the battery. cheers Jack.

Hi Jack - does sound like a mechanical issue (or the electronics that control the shutter/mirror but that is much less likely to fail). Sorry to hear your previous experience with Canon was poor - I'm guessing the warranty on their repair work was no help here. Either way, not my experience but understand your reluctance. I'd search online for reviews/complaints about the place recommended to you but can't offer much more, sorry.
