Crimson Rosella

Crimson Rosella
CommentThis beautiful Crimson Rosella (sub species flaveolus) perched for a while in a silver birch tree in my backyard. I entered this photo as the bird obligingly performed a stretching routine in front of me. This routine showcased a beautiful variety of blues including light blues to sky blues as well as cobalt blues to navy and dark blues. I had just recently purchased the 400m F5.6 lens and this was one of the first ten or so photos that I took with it. I was pleased with the photo because quite often I would get a fleeting glimpse of these lovely birds flying past and be in awe of their wonderful wing colorations in flight but at the same time feel a sense of frustration at not being able to get a long enough look to really appreciate their beauty.
