The short black eyebrow against a white head gives this bird a frowning expression - this bird is the real “Angry Bird”. The Black-browed Albatross also has the darkest underwings of all the ‘mollymawks’, which are smaller albatrosses in the genus Thalassarche. Some other identifying features are:

- Bright orange-yellow bill
- Black eye
- Pink bill tip
- Black mantle, upperwing and tail
- Black underwing margins - wider at and past the ‘elbow’
