CommentMasked out bird from background and added a background of complimentary colour. Sketched bird using photoshop filters and blending modes. Brought colour back from original photo and used "darker colour" as the blending mode. On a new layer in photoshop posterised the original photo in PS filters and blended this back in using "hard light". Note that I went through all blending modes and picked the one that gave the effect I was after.
