Superb Fairy-wren

Superb Fairy-wren
Comment:I have lived adjacent to the Zillman Waterholes in Brisbane for over 30 years, and yet I have never seen Superb Fairy-wrens around this local area in all that time (I initially thought I was chasing Variegated Fairy-wrens. When I did discover the Superb Fairy-wrens, it took me a few weekends to get a clear shot. I find these birds hard to photograph because the black eye with a black background makes it more difficult to get the eye in focus for a sharp image. This male just landed perfectly in front of me and it allowed me to get some nice shots at close range. The sharp feather detail in the image is really nice and the photograph illustrates perfectly their natural habitat. He really looks at home! I also like the blue sheen that makes these guys really attractive little birds.
