CommentImmature Wandering Albatross
Scientific Name = Diomedea exulans
Wingspan = 2.5 - 3.5m
Conservation Status = Critically Endangered

This species was misidentified as Antipodean Albatross x6, Gibson’s Albatross x1

This bird is very hard to distinguish from an immature Antipodean Albatross. One of the only differences in plumage is the white developing on the upperwing. Wandering Albatrosses develop a white underwing, but only old adults get white in Antipodeans. Female Antipodeans can also be difficult. Again, the white on the upperwings is a sign.
