CommentMerries Reef in southern Sydney is a series of exposed rocky reefs that attract a wide variety of migratory waders. Some species forage on the wide sand flats that abut the reef. The beach is open to four wheel driving so I usually visit after the vehicles have left for the day. The late afternoon sun combined with wet sand generates lots of opportunity to play with reflection and colour. I'm fond of high key images which let me retain detail on the Sanderlings.
