CommentFound zipping through the rainforest canopy in large, noise, flocks. Striking iridescent green and magenta sheen and stunning red eye in mature adults. A New Guinea migrant breeding in FNQ. Sexes similar. Captured here coming in to drink and bathe at the end of the day. There is a large nesting colony in tall trees at the sports ground near Kingfisher Park.
EquipmentCanon 5Ds + 300 mm f/2.8 II + 2x III extender with 600EX-RT flash, hand-held.
Manual, partial metering, one shot spot AF, f/9, 1/200 sec, ISO 800, ETTL flash.
Processed with DPP4 and PSE14 with Neat Image plug-in.
