CommentThis is a portrait of an adult male in full song. He was hatched in the west forest below Sherbrooke Falls in 2000 so he is now almost 17-years old. His mother is still alive and a grand old lady, now over 20-years old. She built two nests in 2016 and laid two infertile eggs so her reproductive lifespan has probably been reached. Her son shown here moved to the west forest about 5 km from where he was raised and now commands one of the best territories. He is a big, strong, confident, fellow with a splendid tail and powerful voice. It has been a pleasure to work close to him over the past few weeks. Thanks to the Sherbrooke Forest Lyrebird Survey Group for life history information.
EquipmentCanon 5Ds + 300 mm f/2.8 II with 600 RX-RT flash, hand-held.
Manual, partial metering, one shot spot AF, f/8, 1/200 sec, ISO 800, ETTL flash control.
Processed using DPP4 and PSE14 with Neat Image plug-in.
