This species was misidentified as Red Knot x2, Long-toed Stint x1

The Great Knot is distinguishable from the Red Knot by the supercilium. In the Red Knot, the supercilium is more noticeable than the Great Knot.

The Great Knot is distinguishable from the Long-toed Stint by the streaking on the breast. The Long-toed Stint’s coarsely streaked upperparts end abruptly before the flanks whereas the Great Knot has streaking from the head to the flanks.

Some other identifying features for the Great Knot are:

- Bill slightly longer than head, slightly downcurved

- Rufous Scapulars in breeding season

- Wings extend slightly past tail tip when closed
