When posting a new topic, please ensure that you select the correct category for your post in the top drop-down box of the edit window. The default entry is the first category shown on the All Categories page; this is unlikely to be the category that you want. The Category drop-down box will be present if you click the New Topic tab in the Forum menu; if you are viewing a particular category of the Forum and you use the New Topic button in the Category Header section, the drop-down box will not be present, and your new post topic will automatically appear in the category that you are viewing.

I seem, at present, to be the only poster in this forum with a profile picture (or avatar). If you'd like to add one for yourself, here's how to do it:

1. Click the Profile tab at the top of the forum.

2. Click the small Edit button at the right of the Profile heading. Note: the Profile shows your BirdLife Member Number as your User Name, but your name is shown in all other places in the forum. Your name can be changed either in the Home - My Account page, or in the Forum Profile Editor.

In the Profile editor page, click the Avatar Image tab. Click the Browse button to located the image file you wish to use as your avatar, and click Save. That's it!

Your avatar image can be a .jpg, .gif or .png file; the maximum size at which it is displayed is 200 x 200 pixels, so that's as large as it needs to be.

You can also change a few Account details from the Profile edit page, or add additional profile information (your location, gender, personal website, social media information, signature that will be added to all your forum posts), and change some forum settings.
