This is the end of my three-year term on the committee and three-years as Treasurer. On March 12, I step down as Treasurer and with two of the current committee also stepping down, the remainder of the committee are fully committed, hence, it is not possible for any of the current committee to take up this additional role as I have over the last three years.
The Treasurer’s role is one of the easiest on the committee. There is no requirement for the collection of subscriptions or the payment of invoices (BirdLife does this on our behalf); bank accounts and signatures are not required.
Your role is to ensure that BL sends a monthly financial statement, from which you extract the key data and write a paragraph report for a committee meeting (you will be given training on how to do this). Attend a monthly committee meeting via Skype, which lasts about 2 hours and as an elected committee member, engage in discussion and decisions relating to BLP business. If you are travelling and don’t have access to the internet you upload your report to the BLP Dropbox site (to which you will be given access). There is proportion of BLP business that is undertaken by emails out of session, although the only new initiative this coming year will be to finalise the details for the commencement of the campouts in 2018. Thus, your monthly commitment would be 3-4 hours spread throughout the month.
If you are a passionate photographer and regularly contribute photos to the BLP website please complete a committee nomination form that is attached to this post.
Thank you
