Have been a happy owner of a Pentax K5 for a number of years now, but unfortunately I went for a swim with it when crossing a river, not to be recommended.
I am now in the process of selecting a new camera. Looks like the only once counting are Cannon and Nikon?
I have a 300mm fixed lens and a 100mm Macro both Pentax. I am looking at the new Pentax K1-II to replace my old K5.
Can any one please advice why I should change to a new brand.
Many thanks
Janne

Sorry to hear about your camera woes. As for what to buy, since you have lenses already (and provided you are happy with them), it would make sense to look at a new Pentax body but I can't advise which one. Perhaps other Pentax users can comment.

If you did change then it would make sense to go with either Canon on Nikon which compete fiercely with each other and so both will produce good results. I think most BLP members are using Canon, so if you are looking for advice it may be a better way to go.

Hi Janne,

If you were completely happy with your Pentax and you have a supply of Pentax Prime lenses, why change?
In all honesty, people will push their favorite system (Nikon/Canon) at you and yes, they both provide better systems than Pentax, but again, if you were completely happy, why change?
Cameras at all levels rely on the glass that's put in front of them and this is very expensive to replace. If you were/are happy with the results from your Pentax glass then why replace it?
I use Nikon.
Would I replace it with Pentax equipment? No.
HTH,

Bruce
