I'd appreciate help with the identification of this Fairy-wren, photographed in March 2017 at Pullman Resort, Bunker Bay, south-west Western Australia.
Thanks.

Hi Michael,
Tricky one. . .
I was going to say Splendid Fairy Wren as the 'splendens' sub-species certainly goes down to Bunker Bay, but your Wren has a definate grey cap which the Splendid male doesn't have.
The only other Wren located down in the Bunker Bay region that fits your picture is the male Red-winged Fairy Wren that is moving out of its 'normal' stage and into its breeding stage with the appearance of its blue feathers. The blue feather coloration in your picture appears to be lighter than the blue that appears on the head of the more common Variegated Fairy Wren but the distribution of the Variegated variety doesn't seem to cover the Bunker Bay region?
Not a positive i,d., but the best that I can do with the picture supplied. . .
HTH,
Bruce
