Beautiful Les,
Great footage mate, how does that camera of yours work? Is it a zoom lens or does it accept DSLR lenses?
The other thing that I noticed is the two of the adults have the feather opening along the chest/belly area, ready for incubating the eggs.
Is this opening normally so pronounced or does it become more 'so' during the breeding season?
Thanks for sharing mate,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
The camera is a Sony Z150 with a fixed zoom. The lens is equivalent to a 35 mm lens from 28 to 358mm, but if you use one of its features, it will crop the image one to one pixel, and this will double the power of the zoom. The other true movie camera I use is a FDRAX100, which has the same zoom range but is much smaller and lighter. They both film at UHD and HD, so are reasonably future proof. They both have one inch sensors, which gives them a nice depth of field. The shot is hand held, so you can see the stablisation is pretty good.
The FDRAX100 has a Zeis lens, the Z150 a Sony one. The Z150 has a very good macro ability. Both cameras are much lighter than my Nikon D800E 300mm F2.8 VRi set up. The bigger video cameras is probably half the weight, the smaller one less than a quarter.

The hen is on the right and the brooding patch allows her to keep the eggs at the right temperature. It does tend to become very noticeable when they are nesting.

Thanks Les,

Those two little cameras certainly punch above their weight, your short 'stories' on this section have been of outstanding quality for quite a while.
That's a pretty handy back-up system you have too, even if it is a little on the heavy side?
Bruce.
