There is a valuable (and concerning) article in today's The Conversation by WA bird photographer Claire Greenwell who won the Portfolio prize in last year's BirdLife Australia Photography Awards: article "Photos from the field: beach-nesting birds are under attack from dogs, photographers and four-wheel drives"

Thanks Glenn,
It is an interesting but very disturbing article. I live in South West WA and at times have seen some careless behaviour at the Leschenault estuary near Bunbury WA.
Perhaps education and signage can help protect nesting birds but when I've spoken to dog owners the attitude has been " my dog likes to make the birds fly" or something similar. Sadly as the human population increases more pressure will be applied to some of those limited and vulnerable breeding areas.
