I have been a commercial photographer for many years, in the editorial and underwater fields.

A few years ago I left the commercial side of the profession and decided to concentrate on a more personal approach
to my photography.

I live in Mandurah, approximately 75km south of Perth and my back yard is the Ramsar listed, Peel Estuary, a haven for
migratory birds. I joined the local chapter of Birdlife Australia WA on a couple of their monthly outings and realised there was much to learn about bird identification, of which I am a total novice.

After joining BLA, and as recent convert to bird photography it was inevitable that the next step was to join BLP. So here I am, looking forward to gaining more insight and experience from other BLP members.

Welcome to BirdLife Photography, David. I'm sure you'll enjoy your membership, and I look forward to seeing more of your images submitted to our galleries and competitions as time goes by.

It was great to meet you in person at the Creery Wetlands outing in Mandurah last Friday, on my way home from our Conference in Fremantle. Still got a way to go - only to Esperance so far!

Cheers,

Rob

Hello David,
Nice to see you have found your way to a good place for bird photographers. Don't hesitate to ask questions here on the Forum and if you would like some constructive feedback on images then post to the Critique Gallery. Your underwater experience should be a good grounding in wildlife photography - I reckon underwater and bird photography are the toughest branches of wildlife photography. I look forward to seeing some of your work posted on our galleries.
Kind regards, Ian
