Hello Everyone! I've been a Birdlife member on and off for many years, but never introduced myself. I lived in Melbourne in the 1990s and sometimes visited the office (Birds Australia). I moved to Japan 20 years ago but try to keep my foot in the door and I often dream of screaming galahs flying past my window in the afternoon glare from afar. I was excited to get the invite for the zoom conference about Mirrorless vs DSLR and waited for the weeks to pass, but when I tried to join I was told the meeting had reached its capacity of 100. I'm glad it was a success but sad I missed talking to Aussie birders live. I would like to know what you all concluded, please. Should I get the Nikon D850 or the new Z7ii for Chrissie? I started with a Pentax K1000 my family gave me in 1985. I am serious about evolving my photography and would love to know what everyone is thinking about back home. I went from Pentax to Nikon in 2007. I went from D300, to D800 then D500. I got the Nikkor 500mm PF lens at the beginning of last year and find the field of view a bit narrow on the APS-C body and again want to upgrade to "full-frame". (The D500 is a bit noisy for dull northern winters too. Maybe the Z6ii would be better if noise is my concern?) Which body is my question. I guess I should post this in the Nikon Forum. Anyway, I haven't been home in over a year, and enjoy watching the gallery evolve over the years when I have the chance, time to time. Please keep showing your beautiful bird photographs here. Regards to all. Russell.

Hi Russell, fantastic to receive your message from so far away. Sorry you were not able to join the Zoom meeting last night, the spaces filled like hot cakes. The good news is the the event was recorded and will appear on our website for members in the coming days. I think the content will really help you with your decision on where to next. My personal view is that we are right at the cross roads of the new future of photography which is really exciting. We are planning to have further Zoom event likely to be in early December, not official yet but I will give you the heads up. All the best Russell and please keep in touch. BTW, Birdlife Photography has a Facebook page you can access where you might share some of your Japanese images of birds and chat with other members. Hello Tim! Thank you! I watched the video of the Zoom meeting about DSLR vs Mirrorless last night. I really enjoyed it and it was easy to see the direction everyone seems excited about. It's good to see what others are feeling, and I have many more questions now. Thanks to all who made it possible. Regards, Russell.
