CommentLate in the morning, just as the golden light began to disappear, this Silver Gull came in and landed clumsily on a rock just off the tip of Woodman Point, WA. When it made contact with the rock, it bounced back up into the air, while I had the camera locked on it, and I did not notice anything unusual through the viewfinder or with the naked eye at the time. It was only when I got to open up the image on my computer that the reason for its clumsy landing became evident; no wonder its partner also looks mildly perturbed: Trust me to photograph the only one-legged gull on the peninsula that morning!
