CommentMy first image for BLP and one of my first visits to the Western Treatment Plant. Taken handheld late in the day. I was shooting through the long grass and hence the obstructed view.

This is an approx 50% crop of the original image. Processed with DxO Photolab 4. Not much done apart from standard optical corrections, cropping, exposure and noise reduction (DeepPrime). I have lifted the highlights and saturation just a little to brighten it up as it was taken at 16.30 ish in fading winter light. Hopefully enough but not too much.

It's just a simple bird on a stick but I like the eye contact. I'm unsure about the composition generally. In particular the stalks that are obscuring the bird have a certain charm but could be distracting. I'm wondering if its worth the effort of editing them out. I think the image would lose a lot without the flower head that crosses the bird. However, the fuzzy green diagonal in the top left could be a candidate. There is space around the bird for alternative croppings but with such a bland background I haven't found a better view. Zooming in or fully centering would cut into the flower head and looks odd to me. Zooming back could make the bird too small.
