CommentPalm Cockatoos are both arboreal and ground feeders. Their diet includes Pandanus Palm nuts, Beach Almond nuts, and fruit of the Darwin Stringybark and Black Bean tree. They eat these both whilst on the tree or feed on nuts which have fallen to the ground. This one is feeding on Beach Almond nuts that it is picking up from under the tree. I have included this shot because is shows it in its ground habitat and the quirky nature of this species.
