CommentThere was a small group of these (perhaps 6 or 8 birds) feeding on insects at medium and low levels in the canopy - typical behavior for buff-rumped thornbills (as is the white eye). This was taken right next to a large (5 metre) Acacia that the birds seem to like as they returned to it a number of times over the course of half an hour. Perhaps the insect population on the Acacia is richer - they are nitrogen-fixing plants after all and so could potentially provide more nutrients and support more insects.
EquipmentCanon 700D with 100-400mm at 400mm, handheld.
1/320 sec, f8, ISO 400. Initial processing in DPP 4 to correct exposure and lighting and perform initial sharpening and noise reduction. Finished in PSE 9 where background was noise reduced and bird sharpened.
