CommentThis is one of a series of images captured at a drying dam in Back Yamma State Forest. The forest was in peak drought at the time. Most of the birds coming in to drink were seed eaters. Honeyeaters came in to drink as well as to bathe. Once beyond the vicinity of the dam, and the small cleared area around it, the White Cypress forest was largely devoid of birds.
This Sate Forest is open to hunters, by permission.
The smooth effect on the clay adjacent to the water's edge has been created by a herd of feral pigs that visited the dam on the night we camped next to it.
The technique used here was to set the camera up on a tripod and sit on a director's chair and wait.
Common Bronzewings visited the dam for a drink during twilight.
