CommentI had recently purchased a new lens which I was very excited to try out. I went to a local lake close to where I work early one morning, hoping to get an hour or so of photography before the work day started. This mother Musk Duck was feeding her very hungry and demanding duckling no more than 15m from the shoreline. I settled down and they soon got used to my presence and I was able to capture some memorable shots of the mum feeding her youngster. Unfortunately, I had to leave the scene shortly after this image was taken to go to work!
EquipmentSony Alpha A7R mk iii with Sony 600mm f4 GMaster lens + 1.4x TC. 1/1000 sec, f5.6, ISO 5000, Spot metering. I have done some minor retouching in photoshop (removed some distracting light spots from the background).
LocationLake Joondalup, Western Australia
Keywordsfemale, juvenile, feeding/with prey
