CommentOne of eight images to be submitted of this species. I was fortunate to find them in two locations suitable for photography, albeit the light was generally dull. The locations were Matiatia Jetty and Oneroa Bay, both on Waiheke Island, a small island off Auckland on the North Island of New Zealand. The Matiatia birds in particular were used to thousands of people embarking and disembarking on the nearby Ferry wharf. There were juvenile birds still begging and adults from time to time carried fish in to the roosts, but I saw no young being fed.
