CommentOne of several Egrets foraging in the channels surrounding Herdsman Lake. Bright sunny conditions meant that I could use a relatively fast shutter speed and low ISO to minimize motion blur and noise. Their familiarity with humans let me get close enough to use a large aperature and still achieve good depth of field. Spot metering & focus on the bird's plummage delivered reasonable detail and minimal blow-out of the whites, while underexposed background was corrected in Lightroom.
EquipmentSONY DSC- RX10 IV, Hand Held: f/4, 1/1000 sec, ISO-320 and 97mm focal length (266mm equiv).
