CommentMallee Emu-wren- the master of the Porcupine Grass. Mallee Emu-wrens have become quite restricted in distribution in recent years due to large wildfires. Nevertheless they are reasonably common in suitable habitat in the Hattah-Kulkyne area- their last stronghold. Finding them isn't too hard once you know their thin calls. Usually in pairs or small family groups. A bit of patience is required to get them out of the shade however. They also don't stay still for long.
EquipmentCanon EOS 7D, Canon 500 mm f4, at f/6.3, 1/800 sec, ISO 200. Can't remember whether it was taken using a tripod ot not.
LocationNowingi, between Mildura and Ouyen, VIC, Victoria
