CommentIn central NSW the Red-lored Whistler occurs almost entirely in thick broombush (Melaleuca uncinata) with a mallee overstorey. Sometimes in areas with Mallee Pine also as in this photo. Age since fire is usually best between about 15- 30 years. This is an old image taken with am early model digital camera, but still one of my favourite RLW pics. I upsized using Topaz Gigapixel. reprocessed in Lightroom, Topaz sharpen to sharpen it up and then resized to 1800 px in Lightroom.
EquipmentNikon D1H, Nikon VR 80-400 zoom at 400mm. F/5.6, 1/500 sec, ISO 200.
