CommentIt seems fitting to find a neatly dressed White-Plumed Honeyeater flitting in and out of a colour-coordinated yellow bottlebrush in full bloom on a Coburg street. It was careful to avoid some Rainbow Lorikeets and Red Wattlebirds also feeding at the tree. A recent discovery is that this very common honeyeater is also able to hover to lap up pollen from blossom on the edges of trees, an astonishing ability that is far from confined to Goshawks and Pardalotes, and certainly a challenge to photograph. Its very conspicuous white plume, yellow brow, and dark brown iris are visible in the photo. The dark base to the bill indicates breeding plumage.
