| Comment | There is nothing quite so colourful as a Rainbow Lorikeet, unless it is a Lorikeet feeding amongst the striking flowers of a Corymbia ficifolia. A riot of reds and greens and every rainbow colour in between. If you look closely, you can see the toothbrush tongue tip of a Lorikeet, all the better to slurp up the nectar and pollen. And in between the slurps, it keeps up an incessant chatter with fellow members of the flock, as if to say, “quick, quick, over here, the nectar is sweeter here”. Yet, at the same time, the Lorikeet band made it very clear that such invitations are not extended to rival Red Wattlebirds and White-Plumed Honeyeaters, reluctantly confined to the lower reaches of the tree. | ||||||||||||||||||
