CommentWe thank BLP member Bill Betts for recommending a visit to Kirkalocka Station where our hosts Jarrod and Blair gave excellent advice on birding. We found a family of Western Q-t with adult birds catching and feeding insects to two juveniles. The female Western Q-t (shown here) has essentially the same plumage as the Chestnut-breasted Q-t of eastern Australia. Key ID points are only obvious in adult males. Western Q-t is recognized as a separate species by IOC and most other authorities.
