Comment | New member looking for some critique. While looking through the lens I was mesmerised by the hackles on this young WTE softly wrapping around his neck in the strong breeze. I wanted to capture that so decided to keep ISO down and shoot at slower speed, resting my camera on the only nearby post. I reeled off a couple of shots adjusting the light metering (something I am still trying to understand) between shots. I am happy with the outcome although the composition bothers me. Bird leaning left but looking right. Branch in foreground catches my eye but I’m not skilled in branch removal. The bird is large in the photo with focal points top and bottom, where to place him. There is small amount of cropping, more part/branches below left. I felt I wanted to keep it clean and simple to show off the talons so I cropped them out. Learning as I go and appreciate all comments. Unclear also if this bird is male/female young/mature - I received conflicting opinions on another site Revised image. After listening to the constructive feedback I have made the following adjustments. No Cropping, reduced shadow, reduced noise, reduced colour saturation. Slightly more exposure (to keep the body light) and some minor adjustment to mask sharpening (less on hackles more on face) to give me the focal /soft movement contrast I am looking for. | ||||||||||||||||||
