CommentI am new to this camera/lens ( i.e. a few months), and would like critique on image clarity, especially the detail, also composition. This image was taken from ~15 metres away, and cropped quite a bit to the required dimensions. I feel the detail in the feathers is too 'soft' although I like the soft colouring, as this feels true to the bird and the cloudy day. (I wonder if I'm just too far away from the bird to expect more clarity?? If I'm 3 metres away (rare) issue resolves ...)
EquipmentCanon EOS 7D Mark II, canon lens 100-400mm. Settings: shutter speed 1/500, aperture 8.0, ISO 1600, focal length 400mm. Using Canon DPP 4.0 post processing: I adjusted brightness +0.17, set white balance to cloudy, and picture style to fine detail; increased contrast 0.5.
