CommentI have a pair of Pale-yellow Robins which inhabit the bush nearby. Unfortunately, they turn up at my birdbath as the light is fading, making them difficult to photograph. I have used the basic flash that comes with the camera for this image. The bird was about 3 metres away. I have a lot of birds that come to the birdbath, especially now that it is getting hot, but usually when the light is poor. I would like to be able to improve the photographs I take under these conditions. With this image, the flash seemed to highlight the feather detail on the wings, so it didn't need sharpening, but I enhanced the highlights a little to improve areas washed out by the flash. The eye colour looks wrong also.
EquipmentCamera: Olympus E-M10 Mk I
Lens : Panasonic Leica 100-400 /F4.0-6.3
Exposure 1/125; F7.1; ISO 1600; Focal length 213mm.
Processed with Photoshop Elements. I selected the bird, enhanced it a little as described above. I then selected the background, and reduced shadows, prior to resizing.
