CommentI visited the same little waterhole four mornings in a row, getting there before sunrise to set myself up under my birdhide. There was constant frenzied action and at times I wasn't sure where to point my camera. A fire had obviously burned through the area recently and there were many fallen burnt branches surrounding the waterhole and in this particular spot three branches met, with birds perching higher up and then slowly moving down to where the branches met as this was the closest spot to the waterhole. It looks like the birds beaks have become blackened by scraping against the burnt branches. I reckon there were more arrivals and departures than Tullamarine Airport has in a year. The waterhole was no bigger than a bathtub.
EquipmentCanon 7D Mark II with Canon 600mm f4/L USM non IS lens at 600mm,1/400 sec, f6.3, ISO 320 on tripod under birdhide.
