CommentWalking along the Swan River shoreline with my camera rig over the shoulder, I came across this male Australasian Darter youngster drying his wings, perched at the top of a dead tree overhanging the water. Suddenly an adolescent female flew in, perched clumsily below him and approached him with what looked like amorous intentions, or perhaps she was begging for food. However, the male quick smart made her aware that he wasn’t in the mood for either and gave her a proper telling-off. Too good an opportunity to miss, and I think I managed to capture the moment adequately with this image. Time of exposure 07:39.
[Moderators Note GR Cam: Male darter (upper) has not fully attained an adult 'black' plumage; age of lower bird unknown and may be a female which has not fully attained adult plumage].
