CommentThe identification of wandering-type albatross is sometimes quite challenging, made worse by the taxonomic disagreements across the world. The Working List of Australian Birds identifies this bird as an Antipodean Albatross, ssp gibsoni. Peter Harrison , author of, Seabirds of the World, argues that apart from size there are no morphologic differences between Gibsons and Wandering Albatross and so Gibsons should actually be considered a subspecies of Wandering
