| Comment | Each winter, in the great cool temperate rainforest of the Dandenong Ranges, the male Superb Lyrebird can be heard in full song. It is breeding season and finds him looking his best in fresh plumage and putting on his best performance. The sun angle is low at this time of year and it is often overcast; consequently, it is rare to find a displaying Lyrebird in direct sunlight. When found the sight is magnificent with the bird's shimmering filamentary feathers sparkling like trembling silver wires. It is even rarer to see the display in backlight, an unforgettable moment captured in this frame. | ||||||||||||||||||
