| Comment | A White-fronted Chat perched on a dead branch amidst saltmarsh near the Little River Bird, Lake Borrie, Werribee. This is a male with his characteristic white forehead, face and chin, encircled by a black cap and a broad black breast band. Sometimes called a “Moonbird” or “Nunbird”, its whites, greys and blacks all seem of a piece with the whites and greys of the dead branch, and conveyed best through a black and white treatment. The image has some of the feel of a high-country snowy scene, and it certainly felt wintry enough at the time I took the photo, just 3C. | ||||||||||||||||||
