| Comment | In my experience Whistling Kites are quite uncommon at the Jerrabomberra Wetlands, and this is the first I have seen in many year. I was attracted to the location by it's characteristic call, but had to clamber through undergrown to find it and to find a location from which to take photos. Not long after it was chased away by some determined magpies and I later spotted it flying away over nearby paddocks. In this photo it was watching a passing helicopter. I believe this is a juvenile or immature from the spots on the shoulder, relatively well marked breast and the darkish cap; I have used the keyword Juvenile. Some minor cloning of sticks to make the bird stand out better. | ||||||||||||||||||
