| Comment | A Magnificent Petrel! or at least quite possibly - magnificens is a subspecies of Collared Petrel, Pterodroma brevipes magnificens these show a very "dark morph" and are known from the Banks Islands of Vanuatu. Little is known about these wonderful birds and they are noted to be smaller proportions to the nominate Collared Petrel Pterodroma brevipes which do not usually show such extensive dark grey underparts. However some Collared Petrels on other breeding locations do also exhibit dark plumage variations, so caution is applied to ssp level ID away from breeding islands. | ||||||||||||||||||
