CommentThe Common Redpoll (acanthis flammea) has been introduced to Macquarie Island and is a vagrant to Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island. These probably are from the New Zealand species which were introduced from Europe. These images are from New Zealand where they are common throughout the mainland and surrounding islands and are submitted for identification purposes.
There is some dispute as to whether they are the Common or Lesser Redpoll (Acanthis cabaret), for instance eBird lists them as Lesser. Even the New Zealanders are not sure and say probably both.
