CommentThis Laughing Kookaburra was quite content to perch here in the early morning light after having been chased from a more open perch by an Australian Magpie.
EquipmentEquipment: Nikon Z8, Nikkor Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S
Settings: 600mm, f/8, 1/400s, ISO-1800
Workflow: Processed in Lightroom and sent to Photoshop for downsize, sharpen and export.
Field notes: The first of two images I have posted of this scene. The bird could not have perched in a better position, enabling me to exclude a background distraction with just a couple of steps to the left. It came together nicely with a distant background, backlit sun position, an attractive perch, and with the bird nicely framed by the tree.
Processing notes: There is a radial filter on the head, which was used to raise the shadows a little. Highlights on top of the head have been tempered a little, as I pushed them as far as I dared in-camera.
