CommentI was trying to photograph some Flame Robins and Finches. I had just located my target birds when they disappeared! Then this guy appeared. At least the bird had the good grace to hang around for a photograph. It's the first time I have photographed Collared Sparrowhawk.
Moderator's note: the wing colour and rufous fringes to the feathers are that of a juvenile. The underside of the bird is more like that of an adult so this bird may be part way through moulting to adult plumage. Glenn Pure
