CommentAt this location, a shaft of sunlight passing through trees provides a spotlight on the scene in late afternoon. Trees in shade provide the dark background. The exposure time is critical; it needs to be long enough to capture the explosive movement blur of the spray and short enough to capture the bird without too much movement blur. The spray can confuse the camera AF and therefore MF is recommended.

Manual(f/6.3, 1/800 sec, ISO 400).
